Dr. Joseph Masabni is an assistant professor and vegetable extension specialist in the Department of Horticultural Sciences. He joined the Center for Food Safety executive committee in 2011 and is serving a five-year term.
Masabni moved to Texas A&M University in August 2008 as the Extension vegetable specialist, after serving six years as the Extension fruit and vegetable specialist at University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princenton, KY.
As vegetable extension specialist, Masabni develops extension programs and provides educational opportunities to improve the profitability of the vegetable industry in Texas. The Extension program addresses the continued education of Extension agents and producers through workshops, training sessions, and print or electronic publications.
Trained a a weed scientist, Masabni’s program has migrated to other activities to include “Small-Acreage Horticultural Crops,” “Organic Vegetable Production,” and “Produce Food Safety Training.”
